PODCAST AUDIO ON
Reading is "solace and sustenance" for me, and I am not limited to any particular genre when it comes to enjoying the written word. When the Frankfurter Buchmesse (the world's largest book fair) asked me to create a podcast about German literature, I was immediately intrigued. I wanted to learn more and conduct research on works that have contributed to world literature.
This podcast delves into the various genres of the German book world and their history up to the present day. We also look at works that have been translated into Indonesian from their original language.
During the creation of this podcast, I was introduced to books by Herta Müller, Walter Benjamin (in Indonesian - "Nadir & Sang Pencerita"), and Jenny Erpenbeck's Booker Prize-winning "Kairos" (which is still available in English). I also met people who are deeply passionate not only about the substance of a book, but also about the procedures for obtaining licenses and translation rights, the development of German literature in Indonesia, and those who have been influenced by both German and Indonesian cultures.
